In the midst of hundreds of scientific articles available everywhere, how can a new researcher (probably a master’s student) choose the best articles for his/her research?

Choosing and reading scientific articles, with meanings, seem to be a hectic task as there are lots of resources freely available online. I am planning for my master’s degree, and I need help. Please share your experience.
